This Privacy Policy explains how PolicyGenie ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit policygenie.me (the "Site") or use our document generation tools. It applies to this website itself — it is separate from any privacy policy you generate for your own business using our tools.

1. Information we collect

  • Information you provide: When you create an account, sign up for our newsletter, or contact us, we collect the information you submit (such as your name and email address). Document generation is different: the answers you type into our generators are processed in your browser to build the document and are not transmitted to or stored by us.
  • Automatically collected: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring URL, and timestamps. This is collected via standard server logs and cookies.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use first-party cookies for authentication and preferences, and third-party cookies for analytics and advertising (see sections 3 and 4).

2. How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our tools.
  • To respond to support and contact requests.
  • To send newsletters and product updates (only if you opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud or abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how visitors use the Site (page views, traffic sources, aggregate device data). These tools may set cookies. We do not sell analytics data for money, and we do not use analytics data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Advertising — Google AdSense

This Site uses Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our Site and other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You may also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized ads at www.aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
  • For visitors in the EU, UK, and other regions requiring consent, we serve non-personalized ads by default until consent is given via our cookie banner.

5. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site (hosting, email delivery, analytics, payments).
  • Advertising partners as described in Section 4.
  • Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights.

However, because we use Google AdSense to serve ads based on your activity across different websites, this may constitute “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. You can opt out at any time using the control in Section 6, or by enabling an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, which we honor as a valid opt-out request.

Important: Opting out only stops future sharing and ad personalization on this browser going forward. It does not delete or recall personal information that was already shared with Google or other ad partners before you opted out.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location (EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws), you have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. This only stops future sharing and personalization on this browser going forward; it does not delete or recall information already shared with Google or other ad partners before you opted out.

7. Data retention

We retain account and document data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can request deletion at any time.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International transfers

We are based in the United States. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in the US and other countries with different data protection laws.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
