PolicyGenie is not a law firm

PolicyGenie provides self-help document templates and general educational information. We are not a law firm, we are not licensed to practise law in any jurisdiction, and nothing on this site is legal advice. Using this site does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and no confidential or privileged relationship arises from generating a document or contacting us.

What the generator does

The generator assembles clauses from the answers you provide. It reflects disclosures commonly expected under laws such as the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and comparable regimes. It works from what you tell it — it cannot know facts you do not enter, and it does not audit your business, inspect your website, or verify which laws apply to you.

What it cannot do

  • Determine whether a particular law applies to your organisation.
  • Guarantee compliance with any law, regulation, platform policy or contract.
  • Replace advice tailored to your industry, contracts or data flows.
  • Keep itself current — you must revisit the document as your business changes.
  • Cover higher-risk processing on its own, including health data, financial services, biometric data, children's data, or large-scale profiling.

Laws change; content may lag

Privacy law changes frequently and information here may become out of date or may not reflect the position in your jurisdiction. Where we describe legislation we aim to summarise it accurately and neutrally, but you should confirm current requirements with the relevant regulator or a qualified lawyer before relying on any summary.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for reading any document you generate, correcting anything that does not describe your actual practices, and for publishing and maintaining it. A policy that does not match how your business really handles data can create more risk than having no policy at all.

When to get professional advice

Consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction if you operate in a regulated industry, process sensitive or children's data, transfer data internationally at scale, have received a regulator enquiry or data subject complaint, or need contracts such as a data processing agreement.

No warranties or liability

The site and its documents are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PolicyGenie is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or of any document generated with it. Nothing here excludes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
