How PolicyGenie writes its documents
PolicyGenie generates the everyday legal documents a small business needs — privacy policies, cookie policies and website terms — from clauses written against named legislation and selected by the answers you give.
Why we exist
Most small businesses need the same handful of documents, and their two usual options are unappealing: pay a lawyer to draft something routine, or copy a generic template that says nothing about the tools the business actually uses.
PolicyGenie sits between the two. You answer questions about your business — platform, jurisdictions, payment and analytics tools, whether you use AI features — and we assemble a plain-English document from clauses written against named legislation. Generation happens in your browser, needs no account, and is free. We are a small independent team, not a law firm, and we say so on every page.
Our editorial process
Every template and guide follows the same four principles. They are about transparency, not a substitute for advice — read anything you publish, and get a lawyer involved where the stakes justify it.
Mapped to named law
Each clause is written against a specific source — GDPR Articles 13–14, the CCPA §1798.100 series, UK GDPR, or the Australian Privacy Principles — so you can check it yourself.
Revised as rules change
We track major developments such as the EU AI Act and new US state privacy laws and revise affected templates and guides. Each page shows when it was last updated.
Plain-English by default
Templates are written for humans first, lawyers second. Where legal language is mandatory, we mark it and explain why.
Dated documents
Every generated document carries the date it was produced, so you have a record of what you published and when.
Who we serve
How we make money
The generators are free and don't require an account. The site is funded by clearly labelled third-party advertising, and we are building an optional Pro plan (branded exports, version history, team features) that has not launched yet. We don't sell your personal information for money; see our privacy policy for how advertising cookies work and how to opt out.
